Perfect for summer outings, you can take a leisurely stroll around the beautiful grounds or simply admire the inspiring architecture of this lovely mansion home.

Sir John Vanbrugh began Seaton Delaval in 1718. with Blenheim Palace and Castle Howard already to his name, this was to be his last and most remarkable creation to which he devoted the last years of his life.

When you arrive you will see the high turrets guarding a vast courtyard and the picturesque stone staircases which have stolen many a photographer's heart . Fine statues overlook breathtaking gardens which boast a spectacular army of flowers, all carefully tended throughout the year. It is also a real treat to see one of Jim Russell's grand parterres, which complements the Hall perfectly. A unique Norman church nestles at the heart of it all.

Just two rooms survived the devastating fire of 1822 which nearly destroyed the central block. Now these rooms are filled with precious memories, photographs, pictures and royal seals spanning three centuries. The building is often used for concerts and charity functions.

Venture into the east wing and you'll find the immense stables all in ashlar stone, the charming Coach House with farm and passenger vehicles on show and the intriguing restored ice house. There is plenty of interest for all the family
